“On the go” with little time to think about what or where to eat, leave the planning to us. Wellness meals will include lean meat and/or low fat dairy, whole grains, fruits and vegetables. Wellness meals were created by Mason Dining Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and meet the criteria outlined by Partnership for a Healthier America (PHA) Healthier Campus Initiative.
Look for wellness meals in Southside, Ike’s or the Globe, breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Aim for one or two wellness meal per day as you strive for a healthier you
-Nutrient profile: less than or equal to 400 calories, less than or equal to 10% calories from saturated fat, 0 g artificial trans-fat, less than or equal to 460 mg sodium
-Minimum food profile: 2 oz. whole grain, 1 cup fruit and/or veg, 1 cup lowfat dairy/alternative or 1 oz. lean meat/fish/poultry/protein equivalent
Lunch and Dinner
-Nutrient profile: less than or equal to 700 calories, less than or equal to 10% calories from saturated fat, 0 g artificial trans-fat, less than or equal to 800 mg sodium
-Minimum food profile: 2 oz. whole grains, 1.75 cups fruit and/or vegetables, 1 cup low fat dairy/alt,
2 oz. lean meat/fish/poultry/protein equivalent
Wellness Meal Program at George Mason University
Wellness meal options will be available every day for breakfast, lunch, and dinner in each of our dining halls. Look for our signage pointing out our Wellness Meals.
