Welcome to the Mason Rathskeller! Catch the game or relax with friends at this sports bar with a touch of Mason history. Twelve big screens, great music, a selection of beer and wine, and a mouth-watering menu makes this a first choice for those wanting a sit-down restaurant experience without leaving the Fairfax campus. The Mason Rathskeller is the place to be when the Patriots are on the road; all televised games are on the menu during the sports seasons. And...Mason Money (not for alcohol purchases) are always welcomed.

Mark comes from a family of restaurant owners and operators. In addition to his parents, he has worked for both independent and large restaurant chains. He came to Sodexo and George Mason two years ago to be part of a more intimate level of foodservice. Says Mark, “In the business world of restaurants, customer service is the number one priority, driven by the desire to make more money. With Sodexo, my number one priority is to serve the GMU community and make their dining experiences more comforting, driven by direct feedback”.
His vision for the Mason Rathskeller is for it to become THE sports bar that students will think of first when looking for a place to watch the big games and for SUB 1 to be “a destination for meals instead of a last minute option just because you happen to be in the building, and that starts with creating a comforting customer service environment”.
When Mark is not leading his team at GMU, he is spending quality time with his wife and five children, one of which is a student of George Mason. He is also an award winning Barbeque Chef with a passion for teaching the science and art of the “Que”.
